Russian Historic Museum

Second half of 19th century    A “pseudo-Russian style” appears in architecture as a counter-force to the influence of western culture. Such style represents a synthesis of ancient Russian and Russian people’s art of building traditions. It is wide, luxurious in the Russian style, and has slight superfluities. The “GUM” trade center, the buildings of Historic Museum and the Polytechnic Museum are built in this style.
